There's the "starting-dm" signal emitted by gdm/kdm.
I could not find anything more suitable - like "started-dm", but maybe 
"starting-dm" is enough for this purpose (on a desktop system).

We need something different for non-desktop environments though.

As a workaround adding something like "sleep 30" at the top of the boinc
init script might help already.
