I have either an LCD over analog (="CRT" in BIOS/xorg.conf) or PAL TV- Out (CRT+TV set in BIOS) but not both connected at the same time.
The ActiveDevice option had no effect on the situation. However, this time, modeSwitch did. I tried a few different settings with Alpha 3: No xorg.conf (noxorg): failed as before disabled acceleration, no modeSwitch (xorg1): failed as well disabled acceleration, modeSwitch "new" (xorg2): worked! my optimal setup, now only missing TV-Out pars (xorg3): worked! I also tried removing DPMS and it still worked (I think it defaults to it anyway).
