Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
After upgrade from karmic I get 2x higher Fps in glxgears(about 1700 FPS), because KMS is enabled by default.(In karmic KMS did not work). But gnome desktop environment (with or without compiz) is about 3x slower(gtk-perf) against the same desktop environment with KMS disabled. Also I get 80 FPS with compiz-benchmark, when KMS is disabled, but when KMS is enabled, I get hardly 30 FPS. Also mouse cursor appears after start-up, when KMS is disabled( please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- ati/+bug/528115). However, when I disable KMS, I get 800 FPS in glxgears and opengl windows do not behave correctly(like in previous versions of ubuntu:karmic, jaunty...-see screenshot attachment).
