I have no explanation, this situation "fixed itself" a fix that I am
never too happy about. Since it worked a day later, I went and
uncommented all of the repositories in sources.list again, ran apt-get
and it worked. This does not provide any feedback as to the cause or fix
and doesn't help the ubuntu community at large. I wish I knew more to
share.

I had run both purge and clean as well as -f install in attempt to fix
the issue after reducing the repositories to just one. This did not fix
things that day. However, I must assume that there is a cron task that
ran later that evening that addressed something outside of my actions.
Any knowledge of such tasks?

Jon
