I installed linux-backports-modules-alsa-2.6.31-20-generic along with the backports updates and verified that "ALSA: usb-audio - Added functionality for E-mu 0404USB/0202USB/TrackerPre " change from http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Changes_v1.0.22_v1.0.22.1 is present as I requested in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /alsa-driver/+bug/495287
