Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

This happens absolutely consistently when the following combination of
events occurs:

     1. Start Firefox - it's not running already.
     2. Firefox presents a window saying there are new versions of one or more
installed extensions. If this window appears, there will be a crash
later;
if this window doesn't appear (presumably because there's no new
versions
of extensions), then there won't be a crash and Firefox will run
normally.
     3. I click the button to download newer versions.
     4. The download proceeds, then when finished that window disappears,
then a few seconds later, there is a crash report like this one.
     5. It never gets as far as asking whether to restore the old session, and
therefore
never gets as far as opening any browser windows.

It appears the new versions of extensions are installed, because I can
do this next:

    1. Start Firefox - it's not running because it crashed. (If it hasn't
crashed yet, a dialog
saying it's not possible to start another instance of Firefox appears).
    2. Dialog appears asking whether to restore the previous session, if
appropriate.
    3. Select yes.
    4. Browser windows appear as normal, behaviour continues as normal, no
crashes
        expect.
