pulse will honor existing /etc/asound.conf and ~/.asoundrc, and your
~/.asoundrc overrides pcm.default to be Intel (your onboard HDA, I
presume). Thus, in the presence of an asoundrc that redefines
pcm.default to any other type than pulse, you're looking at problems if
you intend to use module-udev-detect.

** Summary changed:

- Pulse audio, and therefore, now, Ubuntu do not work with M-Audio Audiophile
USB
+ module-udev-detect does not work with M-Audio Audiophile USB
