I am also on an Acer Aspire 5720 laptop, and I'm running 9.10. I don't know if it's hardware sensor problem, or cpu fan control problem, but here's what I've noticed with it:
1) It seems to only detect the temperature at system start, and then thinks it's that temperature the rest of the session... which is especially bad if it's a cold boot. 2) If it detects a high temperature(which is only if you restart it after runing some intensive programs) it doesn't really sound like the fans go very fast. I recently switched, probably perminantly, from Windows, and Windows makes those fans blow like crazy on occasion. 3) Everything that I have that checks the temperature of my cpu's only detects one cpu of the two.(it's a duel-core t2330) The 'sensors' command and the gui's I have only show one sensor... which may be connected to the 2nd problem of the fans not running as much as you would expect they would. -- Fan never powers up causing cpu overheating and shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/484514 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
