I might have the same problem. I have an EVGA MB 630i with onboard sound. I never was able to get sound through the hdmi connection in ubuntu intrepid or karmic, although the hardware worked fine in Windows Vista. I upgraded to a Radeon HD card and am using the hdmi video, so I get no audio in Ubuntu. Both audio devices show in lspci, but no soundcards show in aplay. I tried editing asound.conf to force recognition of the applicable hda-intel driver, but get an error message. I've spent hours trying to get sound to work, as well as posted several times to ubuntuforums, but to no effect. Frankly, the sound troubleshooting guide at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting isn't very helpful. I've refreshed the drivers several times, uninstalled and reinstalled pulse, etc. I uploaded my info to http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=95af9fa1ba67137e9b6c069eda2fb7163abc854b
Now it seems that Alsa's updated its kernel from .20 which I have to .22 Maybe I've updated it already and it doesn't show (apparently there's a bug in the current release) or I'm not sure how to update it correctly. The script upgrade tips in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137 are unfortunately incomprehensible to this noob/infrequent user because of this problem. -- Non working sound on HDA Intel - Dell Vostro 420 Desktop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/344840 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
