Thanks for taking time to report this bug and help make ubuntu better.
Can you please try to install the development release of epathy with
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:telepathy/ppa ;sudo apt-get update ;sudo
apt-get dist-upgrade and then reboot your system and try to login again.
If this does not work either can you please tell us which type of
internet are you using and which network manager are you using. Thanks
