Thank you for reporting this bug. I just installed ampache in a fresh lucid chroot, and ampache.conf is created properly, it is placed in the correct directory and the symbolic link is created correctly. If you can go to http://localhost/ampache and the web installation page comes up then ampache.conf is working properly.
Please be advised ampache.conf is *not* ampache's main configuration file, ampache.conf only creates the apache2 alias for ampache. Ampache's main configuration file (ampache.cfg.php) is created in step 2 of the web installer, you will have to manually place it into /etc/ampache. Please define "uninstall" was that a remove or a purge of ampache? apt-get remove ampache == application removed, configuration files are retained apt-get purge ampache == application removed, all configuration files are removed Setting bug to incomplete until bug reporter responds I hope this addresses your problem.
