I tried to test this using the Lucid Lynx alpha 3 live cd, but I could not get to a graphical login screen. As it booted, it displayed the message, "could not write bytes: broken pipe," and then a blank screen with four blinking dots at the top. I got to a terminal with <alt><f6>, but the characters were illegible. There appeared to be four identical columns of text on the screen, each with a login line and blinking cursor. The text was distorted in the same way as the text in Matthias's terminal:
