The last boot up message that could be seen in the recovery mode is the fsck 
output from util-linux-ng. Appears to hang sometime after that.
Is there someway by which I can confirm the exact process that leads to this? 
(note that every time I try something, it hangs and I have to 'hard reboot' to 
an older kernel to get to a virtual console -- this might overwrite some logs?).
