Public bug reported:

1 After I successfully added the new printer for HP deskjet 400, I tried
to print a test page from the printer property, it won't print with a
black cartridge, and it will only print after I changed it to a color
cartridge, despite that I specified it to print out gray black and
cartridge is also gray, black in the printing properties of the printer.

2 But after I changed the cartridge from black to color, the changing
cartridge light on the printer still keeps blinking so I canceled the
printing job. And the changing cartridge light still keeps blinking
after the job is cancelled.

3 So I turned off the printer, and turned it on, and it printed out a
garbage paper, with several bars of an inch wide of colors, kind of
wasting all the ink!

I then downloaded the HP deskjet 400 black ppd file, and installed it.

I installed the black cartridge and was able to print only ONE page from
the text editor. When I tried to print a second page, it shows the
printing job as 'printing', but the printer is not printing at all. I
waited several minutes and at last I cancelled the job.

Then I tried to print it from the printer property a test page, it
behaved as before. See above in 2 and 3.

The printer uses parallel port.

Thanks.

Sheila
