I guess this isn't a problem anymore, but if so, please provide the
output of "apt-cache madison googleearth" to see where the package is
coming from.
I have no such package, but only googleearth-package -- which you can
use to build your own Google Earth package.
Apart from that Google has a Debian/Ubuntu repository itself, if I
remember correctly.
