Attached is the GDB launched Evolution backtrace of the reported problem (as originally described). The lockup occurred while replying to a message whereby both the original message (in which to reply) and the new composition message where open. After waiting a while for the lockup to occur, not sure if it would ever occur under control of GDB, I pressed the Send/Receive button several times with the mouse to expedite the lockup and sure enough Evolution locked up as expected after the fourth manual Send/Receive. I followed the GDB backtrace instructions as described to gather the information and submit.
Evolution also recently entered the lockup condition on its periodically timed Send/Receive setup while composing a message but was not under control of GDB. I tried attaching to the already running process using GDB and everything went well until I ran the command 'continue' from GDB. This caused GDB to lockup and no longer respond. I believe the correct action would have been not to 'continue' but rather to perform the backtrace immediately on the already locked up Evolution program once attached to by GDB. A second attempt to attach to the locked up Evolution failed to attach by GDB, so I terminated Evolution and started over with diagnostics. Pedro, I hope this information helps you out. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to gather more information on the problem so that it can be solved. I am getting proficient at reproducing the problem - it seems. ** Attachment added: "backtrace 3 - lockup during send/receive" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/40897216/gdb-evolution-backtrace-capture.txt -- Evolution occasionally locks up during send/receive email causing draft emails in editor to lock up as well https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/531130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
