I could reproduce this behavior, but only by doing the following: 1) File->Print 2) Select "Page Setup" tab 3) Change orientation to "Reverse Portrait" 4) Click "Print Preview"
It seems that until you change it back, gEdit will keep that print orientation, even on another document entirely, until executing the same steps as provided above, but changing the orientation to "Portrait". I guess the question then would be whether this is an expected behavior or not.
