Workaround: The herd-5 desktop cd (LiveCD) with the graphical installer installs a working system on my PC.
Details: To be on the safe side, I installed the english version. I installed it in partition hdb4, but wrote grub to a floppy (using the advanced button and selecting "(fd0)"). After restart I installed all updates and restarted again. Then I installed grub in the superblock of hdb4 (since I prefer to use the Gag boot manager), and installed the dutch language. Now I have feisty installed and running. -- Feisty herd-4, system halts after installing from alternate cd https://launchpad.net/bugs/86677 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
