I think it is that Ubuntu does not have a hardware driver for the Intel
Integrated HD Graphics Card in the Dell 1764. Even though I was able to
make things work on Karmic, the graphics still stall sometimes until I
move the mouse. I had to use "Safe Graphics Mode" to even get it to
install with Karmic. It would not display the proper resolution for a
17" monitor. Compiz is what locks up the computer.
