because otherwise firefox doesn't, or didn't, seem to properly detect
shockwave as installed via mozplugger and wine. It was a step needed in
karmic and earlier releases, I haven't tried skipping it in lucid. I
don't think it's highly likely many other people will encounter a need
to do so. With the exception of a few school websites I've seen very
little that still needs shockwave as opposed to flash.
