I don't know if apport-collected is actually valid. I tried to run "apport-collect -p linux 416905" but was told that the -p option no longer exists and the syntax is now "apport-gtk <bug number>". When I ran "apport-collect 416905", apport crashed with an error that I eventually gave up trying to copy (reasons explained below) and failed to connect to the DB (even though my Internet connection appeared otherwise fine) when apport tried to report that crash.
Entering hibernation seemed to go fine. When I came back out of hibernation, the screen was flickering very badly, as if the vertical refresh wasn't matching what the monitor was using. This made it hard to see what was going on, but I had a Terminal window open before hibernating so I used that to enter the apport-collect commands. The mouse cursor was barely visible through this and didn't always register that I had clicked on something. Reading results was also difficult. When I tried to shut down, the system unloaded GNOME fine, but the shutdown splash screen never appeared and after almost 10 minutes I forced the system to power off. I've since tried three times to boot the system, each time after about 5 minutes of it just sitting at the boot splash I hard booted and tried again. It finally booted on the fourth try with no sign of the previous video issues. I used the nouveau driver for this test, but trying again with the proprietary nVidia driver wasn't any better. The system seemed to come out of hibernate this time, and I do have power going to USB devices that get plugged in, but the screen stays blank even when I try to switch to another vterm. Taking it on faith that there's something there to log in to doesn't seem to work on either the text or graphical vterms. I left it that way for about 10 minutes then forced a restart and got back to a normal session. I'll repeat as much of this as I can with the latest upstream kernel and see if there's any changes. -- Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv2500 Notebook PC hibernate/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/416905 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
