Reloading the driver with modprobe:
sudo modprobe -r iwl3945 ; sudo modprobe iwl3945
does not work either.
Also I've tried changing the disable_hw_scan parameter as suggested
here:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/232043
but it does nothing.
