** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Similar to Bug #518201 I recently bought a HP Pavillion DV4 with a Core i3 M330 CPU/GPU. I installed Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 where I had to use the VESA driver for the install but both the intel and the vesa drivers would hang the system after logging in from GDM. Then I found that if I entered a shell (Ctrl- Alt-F1) from the GDM prompt and restarted GDM with "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart" then I could log in to gnome just fine. I tested mainline kernel (2.6.33-RC7) and the issues still exist. + + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Core Processor DRAM Controller [8086:0044] (rev 02) + Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:140a] + 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) + Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:140a]
