Hi Jeremy, As the note update mentioned, I got it to work by installing an earlier version and then upgrading to 8.10. No problems since. I'll upgrade to Koala, as soon as some long-running jobs are done. I'll be sure to let you know through this email address if any similar problems recur. (FYI: I'm a biologist with little linux experience, but one of my collaborators is pretty good, so whatever problems occurred were not trivial.) Cheers, Boris
