If you are not able to change the status , it is not a theme bug.
It is either a bug in indicator-me or in empathy or in the IM client you
are using.[Note that you now mention you are now always shown as offline
, but earlier screenshot shows you as busy, the earlier bug and what you
are facing now might be different]
How are you setting the status? from the Me Menu or from empathy?
