OK, thanks. There doesn't seem to be anything strange happening, but one
of the two processes should have reported an error if it wasn't able to
contact the other. I've reported the bug upstream so that they can
suggest what's going wrong.

Just to be sure: after the last test, nothing related to D-Bus
connections denied appeared in /var/log/auth.log?
