Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu 10.4 alpha 3 on a MacBook Pro 4.1.

$ lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)

The sound output was very low in line out. Could not hear anything in
the internal speakers. Turned on everything in alsamixer.

Then I added the line "options snd_hda_intel model=mbp3" to
/etc/modprobe.d/options and everything worked fine after a restart.
