I posted a bug on the transmission project site, but they had a look and closed it, saying it could be fixed by a solution explained in another bug report (quoted elsewhere on this thread)... Basically they seem to be debating the best answer to the problem, for implementation in a future release. So they're aware of the issue. :-)
