1.) Does your Dell machine have an ATI-GPU?
2.) Check the /var/log/Xorg.0.log for the acceleration-architecture used
(XAA, EXA, UXA)?
3.) Does this happen with every notification you get?
4.) Is the display of the notification ok, apart from the line remaining
at the end?
5.) Do you have "Desktop Effects" enabled?
