Hi arand. Thanks very much for reporting this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. In reading your description, I believe that that you are
seeing is a manifestation of the problem details in bug 514879. One
effect of that bug is that some views in Software Center take a very
long time to render, with the resulting grey screen that you observe.
I'll mark this one as a duplicate of that. If, after the bug fix for
514879 is released you still see this problem, please feel free to
reopen this. Thanks!
