Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: metacity
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release: 10.04
I installed Lucid Alpha 3 netbook edition on my Acer Aspire One ZG5 and
I've kept up-to-date with the package updates so far. I first
encountered this problem shortly after I updated my alpha3 install and
it has persisted through each update so far.
The problem:
Each time I boot metacity and compiz don't seem to be working properly. There
is not top panel, the windows have no frames and aren't maximized as usual with
the netbook edition, and many of the system shortcuts don't work (i.e. Alt-Tab,
Alt-F1, Alt-F2, Print Screen). Also, Docky has a black background as the
normal netbook launcher background is cut off.
The workaround:
To get things working I have to bring up a terminal and enter the following two
commands:
- $ metacity --replace &
- $ compiz --replace &
Once I do that, all issues described in the "problem" section work
fine... until the next time I boot.
