I suffered from this bug. It would seem that it is some kind of migration error. Following faulty dependencies all the way lead to libparted1.8-12 that needed to be libparted0. Once that was switched most things got fixed. It think it is an important remark though, since it forced the removal of gvfs and all dependent packages all the way up to ubuntu-desktop.
