Ah, indeed it's a feature request for PA. When you first filed the bug
report, I thought you had an ac97 codec driven by the intel8x0 (couldn't
really tell, since you hadn't provided that info) controller, in which
case it would have been a driver issue, since the intel8x0 driver has
quirks for handling the built-in mute LED.
