Public bug reported:

Hi, sorry for my english.
I'm an ubuntu user since 2006. In ubuntu 9.04, 9.10 and 10.04 beta1 I found a
problem:
my hard disk temperature higher than windows. I reach 51 degrees in ubuntu
(after 15 minutes, with the hard disk led off) and max 43 degrees with windows
(also stressing hd). I have a wdc5000bevt.
I've tried hdparm -B 128 /dev/sda but temperature doesn't go down, i have only
 an increase of Load_Cycle_Count index.
The external temperature is 18 degrees....

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
