Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xgl

Screensaver seems to have caused my session to dump (which it doesn't
normally do). Just as the screensaver was starting, I moved the mouse,
which killed it (and my X session).

When I tried to log in again, my session didn't complete loading (a
different bug where the user's session won't reload in some cases when
the xserver is terminated unexpectedly, that can be worked around by
killing all open programs from that user).

However, when trying to restart xserver-xgl <ctrl-alt-backspace> because
my session wouldn't complete loading, or to switch to a console to log
in and restart gdm, the system was unresponsive to keyboard commands
(although the mouse worked).

I hit the power button, which caused the system to shut down to some
degree, but the system froze at some point during shutdown. I then did
a hard shutdown, and restarted the system.

..I know this isn't the best info, but it's all I've got.
