Hi Adrian. Thanks for reporting this issue. In the latest development
release of Ubuntu a 'featured applications' category has been added to
the software center. Since version 1.1.17 of software-center this
category is displayed prominently at the top of the home screen.
Although the applications included in this section are not based on
popularity, they have been chosen with great care by the desktop team.
