Unless there was a network connection loss, I did not hibernate or close the 
lid, PC was always open and running. 

I have to reiterate that from all the file counts that i have done and
including the fact that there are 2 files, as you described above, the
app is definitely not purging old metadata. Even the purge script does
not agree on the right amount? Sorting that out would greatly improve
the current situation and points to a possible bug unrelated to the
speed issue.
