I haven't had one of these in a while.  However, in the past few weeks
I've seen this a couple of times.  So it's not consistent or
reproducible issue.  I plan on upgrading to 10.04 next month, perhaps
with a clean install, so I'll be sure to let you know if I see any
issues on the new kernel.
