It was not a clean install, that's why I had the problem. To fix it, I
did the following:

1. Type (in the console): startx
2. This will startup ubuntu 9.04
3. So, I realized that some error occurred during the install process and the 
10.04 packages were not really install but some packages of 9.4 were removed.
4. So, updated everything from the Package Manager.
5. Everything worked fine after that. 10.04 successfully installed. :)
