Brian,

I'm trying to remember... It may have been KPPP in Kubuntu Herd 4 that gave
this message. Somewhere I was able to watch what the reason for the
disconnects were and it was reported as exit status 16 "modem hung up".

The symptoms were the same in Kubuntu Herd 4 or Ubuntu Herd 4 or 5 though.
I still have the Live CD for K Herd 4 and U Herd 4&5 at home and could boot
from Live CD and replicate the problem if it would help you in tracking this
down.

What makes me think it's a bug in Feisty is that the same hardware on my end
functions with no issues with 6.10 64AMD, yet there is a 100% occurence
rate in either Ubuntu OR Kubuntu Feisty Herd 4 and 5 (AMD64).

Let me know if you'd like me to run the LiveCD to help with the
troubleshooting.

Jim
