I had installed the 2:8.721-0ubuntu2 (amd64) package of fglrx by hand (i.e. gdebi). (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx- installer/2:8.721-0ubuntu2/+build/1569218) Maybe there was the fglrx.conf contained ... I deleted it because I thought it was left by the Karmic fglrx driver. ( I did a system upgrade from Karmic to Lucid. )
Otherwise, that version of the fglrx package had some problems (only the 64bit one) with a missing ld.so.conf and thus the postinst script not running correctly. I had fixed it by creating the ld.so.conf where it was expected. But from looking at the postinst-script, there also should've been a modprobe.conf in that directory which should've been installed to /etc/modprobe.d/fglrx.conf .... and that package didn't contain any modprobe.conf file. So to sum it up - the problem is the missing blacklist file. I just looked at the 0ubuntu5-version of the package and now the modprobe.conf seems there. The file I deleted was really left by Karmic. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. :) I guess this issue can be closed. -- System fails to boot with plymouth+radeon+fglrx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545832 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
