You haven't changed anything, but the driver used to access your hard drive has probably changed from ide to lib-ata. This changes the identifier for the drive. My pata hard drive formally found at /dev/hda is now /dev/sda. If possible check the dmesg output to see how the drive is being discovered. (I had to boot in text mode, not splash to see it.)
