Following your instructions, I have made the relevant tests on the newest
kernel (2.6.32-17-generic) on the currently dev. version (10.04).
This has enabled my microphone, however my sound is never clear( there is a lot
of noise, but that is expected from internal mics)
i am still going to upload apport information, just in case

Tried raising the microphone levels in alsamixer, but that didn't help
