Georg Duffner - thank you. It's possible that this is a problem in the kernel framebuffer or in some other Lucid component relating to the newer kernel.
I still have kernel 2.6.31-20-generic in my Lucid /boot directory, and was able to boot into this. The login screen came up properly, and the Gnome screen is now properly aligned. Possible reasons this works: 1. The framebuffer is different between Karmic and Lucid kernels 2. Some component of Lucid wasn't started because of the old kernel - there were some screen messages during boot which might indicate that. Such a non-started component may have been the cause of the problem. -- [K8M800] Screen origin shifted to center, screen wraps, ttyN screens don't work, on Averatec 3280 running Lucid with openchrome driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
