Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

Sometimes when Gwibber has first started, or during a refresh of the
Gwibber feed, a blank OSD notification will be shown. The box is
probably only two pixels high, but has the same shape as the normal
OSDs, and fades in and out.

I imagine that Gwibber is firing off OSD messages when no updates are
actually available, hence the blank OSD.
