Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kooka

Kooka (v0.44), if you selected a Scan Device and check "Do not ask on startup
again, always use this device" at the Welcome to Kooka window, you won't be
able to change device any longer. This feature is necessary especially if a
user has more than 1 scanner.
Steps to reproduce:
(1) Launch Kooka then select a device and check Do not ask on startup again,
always use this device
(2) Click on the Settings menu and click Select Scan Device
(3) If you click on Select Scan Device, Kooka won't do anything.
Workaround:
Settings>Configure Kooka and check "Show the scanner selection box on next
startup" and restart Kooka. This will enable one to change Scan Device whenever
via Settings>Select Scan Device
Comments:
I honestly think this is not a feature since a user should always be given a
choice to use a different scanner.
