Public bug reported:

It seems to me that KDE was fairly stable after upgrading my Kubuntu
Karmic system to Lucid beta 1, and on other machines on which I
installed Lucid beta 1 from scratch as well.

Since, there's been a host of KDE updates of all kinds and it seems to
me that EACH NEW UPDATE BRINGS A HOST OF NEW FAILURES, typically
segfaults in a number of apps, crashes of different kinds, etc.

So I've started fearing each new update with "what will this break now
?"...

I'd love that KDE updates could bring more solutions than problems, but
for now it's the exact contrary...
