the problem is not a memory corruption . the problem comes from an unhandled connection type. the website http://www.mirrorservice.org/ let us browse an ftp and at the last moment redirect the download to that ftp . That makes axel loop and reached a number of loop called by the Maintainer MAX_REDIRECT . The problem seems to be in that loop, there is a verification to make but I can't understand the code :s .
