This seems to go back to my original comment that possibly some experimental code was released into the Ubuntu dist of Firefox. While this would be expected with Feisty given it's experimental nature right now.
"It won't become official till early April" It shouldn't or rather installations in Edgy should not be exhibiting similiar behavior unless the error is common in the Firefox code itself (not related to the system it's built upon).
