First of all, thank you for working on this bug in a timely fashion.

Second, I'm not sure you read the bug correctly. I stated "This only occurs
when the panel is not expanded." Based on the tests I have performed, I
don't think this bug has anything to do with the auto-hide function. I
believe it is associated with the expand function only. It only occurs when
the panel is not expanded. Personally, I have my panel auto-hidden and not
expanded. This bug happens lots of times when opening applications. I don't
think it has anything to do with the gnome calculator specifically. I have
included a screen shot for your viewing pleasure. Thank you.
